things that make me laugh

i was just reading something depressing so to get those thoughts out of my head, here's a list of things that make me laugh:

--how mtv edits out words like "guns" "drugs" "smoking" anything alcohol, drug, tobacco, violence related. like those things are edited when i hear the song on the radio...i don't think a song with the lyrics "I do it for the drugs..." is as bad as say a program by the name of Jackass...or just about any other program on that damn station truthfully.

--how these commercials for wax make the process look so painless and easy. how can waxing your legs/underarms/bikini line be painless and easy? what happens when only some of the hair comes up? and what do you do during those weeks that your hair has to grow back to that length before you can wax it again? wear pants? c'mon now!

--political arguements on any cable news channel. abortion, laci peterson, al franken vs. bill o'reilly, eric rudolph...you name it, there's two people at each others throats on tv debating it. i know people are passionate about their causes, but do you really think screaming at someone who disagrees is a civil, adult way to handle the situation? like screaming changes people's minds.

--record labels and their losing battle against the internet and slumping cd sales. the only commercials that come on m2 these days are for some iffy band that no one has heard of and not many people care about. hearing a 10 second clip isn't going to make me want to rush out and buy that cd (or call the 800 number and spend 18 bucks on something i've never heard). and do they really think they'll be able to stop all unauthorized music downloads? what if i emailed my friend some mp3's? is that copyright infringement?

--the FCC. what a joke that commission is. do they really think that by loosening regulations, the public will be able to connect with more opinions and more sources of media? i took Mass Comm Law (or a variation of) when i was in college and the regulations that passed yesterday do not seem to be in the publics best interest. i hope everyone loves Clear Channel radio and Disney/Viacom television stations. Like Joe Scarborough (my favorite conservative)said on MSNBC last night, "And chances are very good that if the FCC has its way, your City Council and Congressional elections will be shaped by the editorial policies of a media giant in Manhattan, Paris or Berlin." it's going to get pretty boring in the media world over the next few years. thank you Michael Powell! (son of the great *cough* colin powell)

ok i feel better now, more lists to come at a later date.
