hillary clinton

i spent most of yesterday standing in various lines. Hillary was in town to sign copies of her latest book, Living History, and well i wanted a signed copy. I have no idea why they picked the local Sams Club to host the signing. Barnes and Noble would have been way more logical (and comfortable), but that's not my decision.

You had to be there at 10 to get an armband so you would be guarenteed a signed book (or two) when she was there at 5. So i showed up around 9:30 and there was already a line outside the building. i think it was after 10:30 before i got a couple of armbands. standing in that line was not cool because it was outside and of course there were no clouds in the sky. the sign on the table said that the line started forming at 3 for the afternoon signing.

so i went home and watched some movies (i was off from work obviously) and at like 2:30 i thought i would go run some errands and get some lunch and go over to Sams. i got there at like 3ish and ate my lunch in the car. there wasn't anyone standing outside so i thought i was really early. but then i saw people walking by with their books in hand so i thought maybe i should go ahead and get inside to see where the line was. i'm glad i did that. hillary was going to be in the meat section (haha) and the line was already winding down one side of the building. this was like 3:15 i guess. i had to stand staring at cereal and gallon bottles of juice for about an hour and a half. luckily, Hillary showed up early and got started signing early.

it was about 5:30 before i got to the front of the line. the lady in front of me brought her two kids and so Hillary spoke to the kids and to the woman. i don't know what the woman asked, but one of Hillary's personal assistants escorted them off to the Frozen Foods section. i don't believe Hillary was even going to speak to me, but i said something like Thanks and she looked up and thanked me for being there. i wanted to shake her hand and tell her she's an inspiration but i felt like i was holding up the line! and besides, i didn't bring any kids with me so i was obviously less important.

so i took my two signed books and left. i didn't sign in the book letting her know i came by. i felt like it was a waste of time. she was nice to the kids and to the people with kids. i guess i should have said more or something. i don't know. i've never been to a book signing before! i honestly don't read many books! so whatever.

i don't hate her and i really do think she's an inspiration to women (in the political sense...not so sure in the wife sense). i was just disappointed by her actions. if she ever ran for president, i'd probably consider voting for her. depends on who the opponent is. rudy v. hillary? i might have to go with rudy on that one.
